Handling Hard Better

A LOT has happened over the last 6 months.  To summarize:

  • I moved to a new gym
  • My grandpa passed away
  • I competed AA for the 1st time since 2021 and qualified for state
  • I took some time to work on my mental health
  • Was sidelined again with a foot injury (minor)

The last six months have not been easy, to say the least.  After all of the physical, mental, and emotional challenges, I have taken steps to make positive changes and work through the challenges.  My goals have not changed.  Despite all of the ups and downs, I know am still moving forward toward my L10 goals and pursuing college gymnastics, even if my progress is not as fast as I would like.  Recently, I watched a video clip of Coach Lawson of the Duke Women’s Basketball team where she talked to her athletes about not waiting for when life will get easier because it really actually only gets harder and we just get better at handling hard things.  I really think that is true and I realized that although these big changes in my life have not been easy, I know that these experiences and the changes I have made will help me to handle hard better in the future.  In the meantime, I am looking forward to making improvements for the rest of competition season and for the post-season.
